Introducing Profit & Loss Version 2: Real Transaction Data, No More Estimates

Profit & Loss just got a major upgrade. P&L Version 2 is now available to all sellers, changing how KwickMetrics calculates your profit and loss.

Why We Built This

Profit & Loss has always been one of the most-used tools in KwickMetrics, but until now, some of the numbers — especially for pending and unshipped orders — relied on estimates based on your historical order data. Estimates are useful, but they're still guesses. With Version 2, we've closed that gap entirely so the numbers you see are the numbers Amazon actually recorded — not projections.

What's New in Version 2

  • No more estimates - Every order, including pending ones, now reflects actual transaction data pulled straight from Amazon — not a projection based on past performance.
  • Every fee and refund, matched exactly - Fees and refunds are matched directly, so what you see in your P&L lines up with what Amazon actually charged or refunded.
  • Clear order status, at a glance - Under Group by "Order", Pending, deferred, and completed orders are now shown as distinct categories, so you always know exactly what stage each order is in — instead of everything being lumped together.
  • Tax, broken out separately - For every fee and charge, the base amount and the tax component are now shown as two separate figures, so you can see exactly how much of any charge is tax — rather than one combined number.
  • Tax Handling, on your terms - Version 2 introduces Tax Handling in Configuration Center — mark a tax as claimable or recoverable, and it's excluded and disappears from your profit calculation, with that tax portion no longer shown against the fee. Leave it unmarked if it isn't recoverable, so it's counted as a real cost. This covers Amazon Fees tax, Amazon Charges tax, Item tax, and Promotional & Ads tax.

How to Switch

Head to Configuration Center → P&L, and select Version 2 from the P&L Version options. You're in control of when you make the switch, and you can move back to Version 1 at any time.

The Bigger Picture

This is the first step in a broader move toward greater accuracy across KwickMetrics. Profit & Loss was the natural place to start, since it's where sellers make the most decisions based on the numbers in front of them — and now, those numbers are as close to the source as they can get.
Try Version 2 today from your Configuration Center, and see the difference real transaction data makes.
