KwickMetrics Product Trends Time Based Report

Product Trends Report

Overview

The Product Trends report provides a time-based view of product performance across key business metrics such as orders, units sold, revenue, costs, and profitability.

Unlike summary reports that display aggregated totals, this report breaks down performance across time columns (day, week, or month), allowing you to analyze how individual products or categories perform during a selected period.

Each product or category appears as a row in the table, with selected metrics displayed across time-based columns and a total column summarizing the entire period.

The report uses historical marketplace data synced from connected marketplaces and helps identify performance patterns, sudden changes, and trends in product sales or profitability.

Why Use This Report

Use the Product Trends report to:

  • Analyze product performance over time
  • Identify daily or weekly sales patterns
  • Evaluate impact of promotions, campaigns, or pricing changes
  • Detect sudden drops or spikes in product performance
  • Compare performance across products or categories
  • Understand how revenue and costs evolve over time

This report is useful for monitoring product behavior and identifying opportunities for optimization.

Metrics

You can select one or more metrics using the Select Metrics dropdown. Each selected metric appears as a separate sub-row under each product or category.

Common metrics include:

Orders

Number of orders placed during the selected time period.

Units

Total quantity of items sold.

Revenue

Total sales value generated before deducting marketplace fees and costs.

COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)

Total cost associated with the items sold.

Expenses

Additional business expenses allocated to the product.

Estimated Net Profit

Calculated profit after deducting COGS, marketplace fees, and allocated expenses.

Available metrics may vary depending on the marketplace and the enabled modules.

The main table displays product performance across the selected time period.

Each row represents a product or category, depending on the selected grouping.

The table includes:

  • Product details – Product image, marketplace flag, product identifier, status badge, and current price
  • Metric rows – Each selected metric appears as a sub-row under the product
  • Time columns – Values for each day, week, or month in the selected period
  • Total column – Aggregated value for the entire selected period

This structure allows multiple metrics to be viewed together for each product.

Organic and Ads Filters

The report allows switching between Organic and Ads views.

  • Organic – Shows performance generated from non-advertising sales
  • Ads – Shows performance generated through advertising activity

This helps you understand how product performance differs between organic demand and advertising-driven sales.

Grouping Options

The Group By option controls how data is aggregated.

Available options include:

Product

Displays individual products with their respective performance metrics.

Category

Aggregates performance metrics across all products within each category.

Grouping by category helps identify broader trends at the category level rather than individual product performance.

Column Grouping

The Column Group option determines how time periods are displayed.

Available options:

Day

Shows individual daily values for detailed analysis.

Week

Aggregates values into weekly totals.

Month

Aggregates values into monthly totals.

Changing the column grouping helps analyze performance at different levels of time granularity.

Comparison Feature

You can enable the Compare With option to analyze performance against a previous period.

When comparison is enabled:

  • The system automatically selects the previous equivalent date range.
  • Comparison values are displayed alongside current values in charts and tables.

This helps evaluate whether performance is improving or declining relative to the previous period.

Search and Filters

The report provides several tools to narrow the analysis.

Search products using:

  • Item ID
  • SKU
  • Product name or brand

Filters

Filters allow you to refine the dataset by:

  • Category
  • SKU
  • Product identifier (ASIN or Walmart Item ID)

Filters can be combined to analyze specific groups of products.

Date Range Selection

The report supports multiple predefined date ranges, including:

  • 7 Days
  • 30 Days
  • This Week
  • Last Week
  • This Month
  • Last Month
  • 6 Months
  • 12 Months
  • Year to Date
  • Last Year
  • Custom Range

The selected date range determines the time columns displayed in the report.

Marketplace Considerations

Product performance calculations may differ slightly between marketplaces.

Amazon

Profit calculations are based on Financial Events data when available.

Walmart

Profit calculations are derived from order-level shipment data.

Available metrics and fields may vary depending on the marketplace integration.

Important Notes

  • Data is based on synced marketplace records, not real-time data.
  • Recent data may change as marketplaces process refunds, fees, or adjustments.
  • If no sales occur during a selected period, metric values display as zero.
  • Profitability accuracy depends on properly recorded COGS and expense data.
  • Today's data may appear incomplete until marketplace synchronization is completed.
