Keyword Banks and Competitor Analysis in Keyword Researcher

Overview

This article explains how Keyword Banks and competitor analysis work in the Keyword Researcher tool. These features help sellers organize shortlisted keywords, reuse them across workflows, and evaluate competitive strength before finalizing keywords for listing optimization.

Explanation

Keyword Banks are structured collections of saved keywords created from keyword research sessions. They act as a persistent storage layer, allowing sellers to retain, organize, and reuse validated keywords over time.

Competitor analysis is available within saved Keyword Banks and provides visibility into which products dominate a keyword based on buyer click behavior. This helps sellers assess competitiveness and select realistic keywords aligned with their listing strength.

Keyword Banks

Keyword Banks allow sellers to:

  1. Save shortlisted keywords from research sessions.

  2. Organize keywords into reusable collections.

  3. Reuse keywords across listing optimization and advertising workflows.

  4. Track when keywords were saved.

Each Keyword Bank includes:

  1. Marketplace associated with the keywords.

  2. Total keyword count in the bank.

  3. Timestamp indicating when keywords were saved.

Saved keywords retain their associated metrics as of the time they were saved.

Competitor Analysis

Competitor insights are available within saved Keyword Banks under the Competitors view.

For each saved keyword, the system surfaces:

  1. Top competitor ASINs associated with the keyword.

  2. Product titles of competing listings.

  3. Relative dominance based on buyer click behavior.

Competitor dominance is calculated using the top three clicked products per week over a four-week period, resulting in up to twelve competitor products per keyword.

Usage

Keyword Banks and competitor analysis are commonly used to:

  1. Build finalized keyword sets for listing optimization.

  2. Compare keyword difficulty before adding keywords to listings.

  3. Identify keywords dominated by weaker competitors.

  4. Avoid targeting keywords controlled by highly dominant listings.

  5. Maintain long-term keyword libraries for reuse.

Important Rules and Behavior

Notes
NOTE:
Competitor data reflects historical buyer click behavior and does not guarantee ranking outcomes.

Key behaviors include:

  1. Competitor analysis is available only for keywords saved to a Keyword Bank.

  2. Keyword Banks do not automatically refresh metrics after saving.

  3. Saved keywords preserve metric values from the last save timestamp.

  4. Removing a keyword from a bank does not affect the original search session.

Relationship to Other Modules

Keyword Banks support downstream workflows:

  1. Listing Management
Saved keywords feed directly into listing optimization.

  2. Ads Campaigns
High-value keywords can be reused for campaign targeting.

Summary

Keyword Banks and competitor analysis provide structured control over keyword reuse and competitiveness evaluation. By saving validated keywords and reviewing competitor dominance before implementation, sellers can reduce risk, improve keyword selection accuracy, and maintain consistent optimization strategies across listings and campaigns.
