Harvest Keywords Rule Sets: Moving High-Performing Search Terms into Keywords or Targets

Overview

Harvest Keywords Rule Sets allow you to automatically identify high-performing search terms and move them into structured keyword or target setups.

This Rule Set type evaluates search term performance and, when defined conditions are met, adds those search terms into selected destination ad groups as keywords or product targets.

Harvest Keywords Rule Sets apply to Sponsored Products only.

Explanation

Harvest Keywords Rule Sets evaluate search terms over a selected data range. When a search term meets the defined performance conditions, it is added to a destination ad group based on the configured movement settings.

The automation follows this structure:

  1. Select the Goal: Harvest Keywords.

  2. Define performance Conditions for search terms.

  3. Configure movement settings (source and destination logic).

  4. Choose Frequency and Data Range.

  5. Activate the Rule Set.

Unlike other Rule Set types, Harvest Keywords does not include a separate “Select Campaigns” or “Select Ad Groups” step. The scope is fully defined within the movement configuration.

Movement Configuration

Movement settings determine how and where qualifying search terms are added.

Each movement configuration includes:

  1. Source ad group(s) where search terms are evaluated.

  2. Destination ad group(s) where qualifying search terms are added.

  3. Marketplace selection (each configuration is marketplace-specific).

  4. Move As type.

  5. Optional bid value for created keywords or targets.

  6. Optional negation in source ad group.

Supported Move As Types

You can choose how the search term is added in the destination ad group:

  1. Product Exact

  2. Product Expanded

  3. Keyword Exact

  4. Keyword Phrase

  5. Keyword Broad

You can add multiple movement configurations within the same rule. Each configuration is evaluated independently based on its marketplace.

Usage

Harvest Keywords Rule Sets are typically used when you want to:

  1. Automatically promote converting search terms into exact or structured targeting.

  2. Separate high-performing queries into dedicated ad groups.

  3. Apply consistent harvesting logic across marketplaces.

  4. Reduce manual search term mining.

  5. Improve control by optionally negating harvested terms in the source ad group.

This Rule Set type is designed to systematize search term promotion from discovery campaigns into structured targeting.

Alert
If required movement settings are incomplete, activation will be blocked until the configuration is corrected.

Important Rules and Behaviour

  1. This Rule Set type applies only to Sponsored Products.

  2. Movement configurations are marketplace-specific.

  3. Multiple movement configurations can exist within the same rule.

  4. If the selected destination ad group’s targeting type is incompatible with the chosen Move As type, that configuration will be skipped during execution.

  5. There is no separate campaign or ad group selection step; scope is defined entirely through movement settings.

  6. Rules are evaluated sequentially.

  7. After creation or update, the Rule Set may enter a processing state during which editing may be temporarily blocked.

  8. Destination ad groups must be Manual targeting ad groups. Auto campaigns are not supported as destination ad groups for adding keywords or targets.

Prerequisites

  1. Ads integration must be connected.

  2. Selected Ads Profiles must be active.

  3. You must have access to the Ads Management module.

  4. Eligible Sponsored Products ad groups must exist for both source and destination.

  5. Destination ad groups must be compatible with the selected Move As type.

  6. Destination ad groups must be Manual targeting type. Auto campaigns cannot be used as destination ad groups for harvested keywords or targets.

Summary

Harvest Keywords Rule Sets automate the promotion of high-performing search terms into structured keyword or product targeting setups.

By defining clear performance conditions and movement configurations, you can systematically scale successful search terms while maintaining control through marketplace-specific rules and optional source negation.
