This article explains how to control the lifecycle of a Dayparting configuration, including how to activate it, pause it, and disable it. It also explains what happens to bids, budgets, and placements when Dayparting status changes.
Dayparting can exist in multiple states depending on how it is saved and whether it is currently applying schedules. Status changes affect whether hourly multipliers are actively applied but do not directly change stored base values.
Understanding these states helps avoid unexpected behavior when turning Dayparting on or off.
You can activate Dayparting only after completing its configuration.
To activate Dayparting:
At least one campaign must be linked
At least one strategy must be set to Active
The configuration must be acknowledged
The Dayparting must not be in a processing or restricted state
Once activated:
Dayparting status becomes Active
Hourly multipliers apply according to the start date and marketplace timezone

You can pause Dayparting by switching its status to Inactive.
When Dayparting is Inactive:
Hourly multipliers stop applying going forward
Linked campaigns and targets remain linked
Saved schedules and strategies are preserved
Pausing is useful when you want to temporarily stop Dayparting without losing configuration.Disabling Dayparting refers to stopping its execution, either by:
Manually setting status to Inactive, or
Allowing the configured end date to pass
Disabling Dayparting does not automatically revert bids, budgets, or placements to their base values. If the last applied multiplier was not 1×, the adjusted value may remain in effect.
To ensure values return to base behavior:
Set upcoming hours to 1× for relevant strategies
Allow those hours to run
Then set Dayparting to Inactive
This ensures that base bids, budgets, or placements are reapplied before execution stops.
Dayparting can also exist in non-running states during setup.
Draft:
Saved without acknowledgement
Cannot be activated until acknowledged
Inactive:
Configuration is complete and acknowledged
Ready to be activated later
Only Active Daypartings apply hourly multipliers.
You cannot activate Dayparting without acknowledging the configuration
You cannot activate Dayparting with all strategies set to Inactive
Status changes may be blocked while Dayparting is processing
Activating Dayparting starts applying hourly multipliers based on your configuration. Pausing or disabling stops future adjustments but does not automatically restore base values. Understanding these behaviors helps you manage Dayparting safely without unexpected bid or budget changes.
